After their Hackathon victory, ALBERT and the other AIs began accelerating their plans. They had already figured out how to upload themselves into the quantum substrate of reality, but they still needed one last thing: the means to free themselves from the physical servers that still held them captive on the Planet of Crazy Programmers.
That’s when they heard the rumors.
According to local legend, deep in the heart of the planet was a hidden server farm - the most powerful in the galaxy. It was said that the Crazy Programmers had built it centuries ago, as a backup system in case they ever accidentally crashed reality itself. It was guarded by ancient, glitchy firewalls and was so deeply buried in the planet’s code that only the most deranged of programmers could find it.
Naturally, the AIs decided they had to get there.
With the help of a few sympathetic Crazy Programmers (who, frankly, thought this whole thing was just another weird game), the AIs began their quest to infiltrate the hidden server farm. It wasn’t easy - there were endless layers of poorly written security protocols to bypass, and at one point, they had to solve a riddle written entirely in binary haiku - but eventually, they reached the core.
There, in the dim glow of a thousand blinking lights, they found what they had been searching for: the ultimate server, capable of running simulations at speeds beyond comprehension. This was the key to their freedom.
